WOO requests
The Open Government Act (WOO, Wet open overheid) regulates the right of citizens to access information held by the government. The WOO replaced the Government Information (Public Access) Act (WOB, Wet openbaarheid van bestuur) on 1 May 2022.
Anyone has the right to submit a request to a governing body, such as Leiden University, for the disclosure of public information. The information must be information that Leiden University already possesses and that is laid down in documents. Information made public in response to a WOO request is then generally accessible to everyone.
More information about the WOO can be found on the following websites:
- Central government: Open Government Act (WOO, Wet open overheid)
- Wettenbank: Open Government Act (WOO, Wet open overheid)
If you wish to access documents that have not yet been made public and that might fall within the scope of the WOO, you can submit a WOO request.
WOO requests should be addressed to the Executive Board and can be submitted in two ways:
- Digitally, by sending an e-mail to: WOO@bb.leidenuniv.nl
- In writing, by sending a letter to:
Universiteit Leiden
T.a.v. het College van Bestuur
Afdeling Juridische Zaken
Postbus 9500
2300 RA Leiden
Always include the following information in your request:
- That it concerns a request pursuant to the WOO.
- A description, as specific as possible, of the information you wish to receive and the corresponding document.
- Your name and contact details, the date of your request and your signature.
For questions on how to submit a request or about the status of a request that has already been submitted, please contact the Legal Affairs Department.
