With our corporate communications, we communicate about the university as a whole. The cornerstone is expressing our identity and creating the image we wish to convey. Enhancing and maintaining the university’s reputation is a key goal of corporate communications.

Content

The editorial team posts news, corporate and other content on the website and social media. It is also responsible for media and content monitoring, creating newsletters and producing visual content such as photos, videos, animations and infographics. Advice on how our communications can increase the university’s impact. This includes website and house-style development.

Media relations and advice on corporate communications

Head of the Rector’s Office

The Head of the Rector’s Office is responsible for organising academic ceremonies such as the Opening of the Academic Year, the Dies Natalis and the Cleveringa Lecture. They also maintain contact with dignitaries from home and abroad, and are the point of contact for royal honours and university medals. A further responsibility is preparing for regular and honorary professorships and for the appointment of professors.

Position within the University

The department Corporate Communication is part of the Strategic Communication and Marketing (SC&M) directorate. SC&M is part of Leiden University’s Administration and Central Services. Other SC&M departments include the departments of Alumni Affairs and Fundraising, Marketing and Internal Communication.
