Security Affairs
The Security Affairs (VHZ) department deals with all issues relating to safety and security. The department helps to ensure that Leiden University’s students, staff members and visitors are as safe as possible at all times.
Tasks of Security Affairs
- Providing the Executive Board and faculty boards with advice on integrated safety and security;
- Managing physical building security outside office hours (in conjunction with the Real Estate directorate);
- Supplying information in the area of integrated safety and security; for example, by advising staff members and students who are planning to travel abroad;
- Providing advice on organising sensitive events;
- Crisis and risk management; for example, the Covid 19 crisis.
Position within the university
In organisational terms, the Security Affairs department is part of Management Support within Administration and Central Services.

General incidents

Unacceptable or alarming behaviour
Incidents relating to unacceptable or alarming behaviour, such as threatening behaviour, stalking or sexually transgressive behaviour, should be reported to the relevant department.
